Finding Fish at High Boat Speeds On June 17, 2013

You find fish at 20 mph with old flashers, Lowrance LCX/LMS models and the new HDS models.

The first images shows fish with the LCX from 2007. I would tweak the setting to get these images by using the maximum ping speed, slightly increase the Colorline and manual sensitivity and use the blue background palette. Finding fish at high boat speeds was difficult to unless I tweaked the settings.

I now use the Gen2 HDS and I use the auto sensitivity and palette 1 (white background) to get the same clear images but now I can get good images up to 40 mph. I still use max ping speed but and you can see the settings I chose on the screenshots below.

It is easier to see the fish with the HDS Gen2 which leads to finding fish at high boat speeds.
If you are cruising for fish you save time finding them at 30 mph than at 4 mph and time can mean more fish in the basket at the end of the day.
